These surface veins can alternatively be treated by injecting foam sclerotherapy into them under ultrasound control which destroys the vein (see www.foamsclerotherapy.co.uk).
In addition, foam sclerotherapy can be used for deeper veins that are too small or winding to pass EVLA or VNUS catheter up them. This includes veins that have regrown following previous surgery - veins that are called neo-vascular (or new vessel formation).
